All of these lovely libraries have been my homes from home for going on 30 years of research. Although I did put pictures of the Newberry (my first) and the Beinecke (love the translucent marble walls) into this mix, these tales are about foreign libraries -- not that I'd call the Folger or the Firestone, the Houghton or the Huntington merely domestic. But aside from being trapped in a shower with a squirrel in the Folger Guest House, my travel to those collections has been deeply unremarkable.
